State Government UPS/Genset Upgrade
Located within a secure State Government facility, this project involved upgrading the existing power infrastructure supporting a critical control centre. Cablewise were engaged by Programmed to deliver an end-to-end backup power solution to ensure the site’s continuous operation during any utility failure or maintenance event.

The Challenge
The State Government Agency required an upgrade to its backup power systems to ensure uninterrupted operation of its lifecritical control centre. The existing infrastructure was nearing capacity and lacked the necessary redundancy to support ongoing operations during outages or maintenance.
Approach and Execution
Cablewise secured the project through a competitive tender and worked closely with the design team to engineer and install a comprehensive N+3 redundancy system. This included the integration of four 150kVA UPS units, a 275kVA generator, and static transfer load switches. Significant coordination was required to ensure seamless functionality across multiple power layers, particularly within an operational facility that demanded meticulous planning and execution.
Outcomes
The project was delivered successfully with minimal disruption to the building’s day-to-day operations. The on-site team received high praise from agency staff for their professionalism, attention to detail, and quality workmanship. The upgraded systems now provide robust, reliable power continuity, ensuring the control centre can operate without interruption under any circumstances.
Conclusion
- Construction of fire-rated and climatecontrolled UPS rooms
- Installation of four new UPS units
- Supply and installation of 275kVA generator
- Installation of communications room and control desk power transfer switches
- Comprehensive power blackout simulation testing and end-user training
